During my holidays to Greece, I often called the police station in small vilages or towns. Most of the time they were so kind as to to supply information about possibilities for obtaining rooms. In the smaller places they  even offered telephone numbers. Just call the tourist police in bigger places.
 Could be however, that in the villages the police person only speaks Greek.
