WALKS WHILE STAYING IN MOLIVOS - LEFKAS

These walks can be done in combination with the bus, which runs between:
Eftalou - Molivos - Petra - Anaxos and the other way round.
(As the schedule may change in early and late season, you 'll find a time table at the busstation. In the bus they can provide you with the actual timetable. The busstation is situated on the edge of Molyvos, next to the school, on the road to Petra.

MOLIVOS - EFTALOU ( 1 hour ) - HOT SPRING ( 10 MIN.)
Simply follow the main road to Eftalou. After about an hour you reach the Restaurant Eftalou where they serve very good traditional Greek food. This is also the end of the bus line.  The small white building, housing a hot bath, is a bit further down the road. It can be visited to have a look and one can actually take a bath.

Pictures can be seen in my pictures section on the page.( Lesbos 2009)

VAVIOS-MOLIVOS (1 hour)
As there are no busses going to Vavios any more, we took a taxi from Molivos. The taxi stand is near the school. Let the taxi drop you off at the steep road into the village. It's just a quiet village where the cafenion up the stairs is the place to meet. A location to soak the Greek atmosphere. We always had a chat as we visited several times and people are really interested.
On the road down, the Taverna Bavios is the best place in the village to eat. Walk along the asphalt road, passing the taverna and take (after about 3 km) the gravel path to the right leading to Molivos, also called Mythimna.
There is a green sign indicating the direction. Reaching the bush, round it on the left side.

Αfter passing two, mostly dry, rivers, you 'll see a small sign ΜΗΘΥΜΝΑ to the left. This is a partly small path (monopathi), ending on the road next to the parking lot near the school and the bus station.

ANAXOS - PETRA (45 min.) along the seaside.
If you go by bus to Anaxos, walk about 100 meters beyond the bus stop and turn right. This is also the turning point for the bus. De way to the beach is indicated. Walk along the seaside and take a drink or some food in one of the many restaurants and bars. Walking to the end of the road, turn right. Turn left opposite the Anaxos Beach Studios. On top, you see a one way road sign on the right. Take the path, trough the gate to the small harbour. There starts a rough path, directly next to the water. If the sea is a little rough its is more difficult to pass as you have to "walk" on a rather steep bank. After 10 minutes the path gets wider, walking on seaweeds. Walk along the next harbour until you reach the bend in the road towards Petra. You either walk along that road, or turn right and after about 100 meters left on the the concrete road.. This is a quieter back road ending in the streets behind the rock in Petra. Turn left after the restaurant on the right to go to the seaside.

MOLIVOSOS - PETRA (1.5 hrs.) passing the water reservoir.
Take the road on the right side of the bus station. Turn the first path right under the sign to apartments. Just follow that road and keep a bit to the left. The path gets really small to finally reach the gravel road. Turn right. At the bush, a sign to the left gives the way to a hippodrome. Round the bush on the right side.
When reaching the asphalt, turn left. Turn right after about 300 meters. The sign is directing Petra/Water reservoir. Simply follow the road and you will reach the main road. Cross the main road and follow the gravel path (which you only see after crossing the road)  to the boulevard.

PETRI - PETRA BY NIGHT(1 hour)
Several times we took a taxi to Petri to have dinner. Petri is a small village with some good restaurants. The view and the sunset are beautiful. After dinner it is a nice walk to Petra, especially with a clear sky and a visible moon. In July/August it's pleasantly cool after a full day of sun.

On July 7th. there is a festival in the morning., (Agia Kiriaki). They will distrubute the special food ( lamb meat and corn) they cooked all night in big kettles.
